Dieppe, agréable découverte
Une arrivée tardive lundi m’avait déjà permis de sentir que cette petite ville de 36000 habitants allait nous surprendre par son caractère. Le lendemain matin, sous le soleil qui baigne la véranda où l’Hôtel de la Plage sert son petit-déjeuner, ce pressentiment semble se confirmer.
La plage de galets protège les falaises qui surplombent le littoral. Le vert se mêle au gris et au bleu, le ciel sans un nuage laisse présager d’une journée chaude. D’immenses pelouses bordent la plage, j’entends dire qu’elles datent de la période de Louis XIV, la reine s’étant amourachée de Dieppe mais ne supportant pas la plage de galets. « Puis elle a découvert Biarritz et n’est plus jamais revenue ! »
Le village a été installé dans le port de plaisance. Plus de place qu’à Dunkerque. Plus d’exposants aussi. Ce qui me permet notamment d’en apprendre plus sur le festival du cerf-volant qui se déroule tous les 2 ans sur les fameuses pelouses, réunissant les amateurs du monde entier. Saviez-vous que les Thaïlandais, jamais avares en bonnes idées, avaient introduit une nouvelle discipline, le cerf-volant de combat ?
Oui je sais, difficile de mettre à la suite les mots cerf-volant et combat, et pourtant ! Après avoir essayé d’imaginer 2 Thaïlandais combattant à grands coups de cerfs-volants, je me suis décidé à demander en quoi cela consistait. C’est en fait la corde du cerf-volant que l’on badigeonne puis recouvre de verre pilé, le but étant, une fois en l’air, de couper celle de ses concurrents. Étonnant…
Pas le temps d’aller visiter le Château-Musée qui trône en haut de la ville, ni d’aller me perdre dans les rues de la cité médiévale, à chaque fois que je commence à remonter la rue piétonne qui part du village du TFV, je dois rebrousser chemin pour couvrir un petit événement.
“Dieppe n’entre pas dans le cadre étroit d’une carte postale (…) c’est une ville dont le coeur bat toute l’année, même s’il cogne un peu plus fort l’été” nous annonce la brochure diffusée sur le village.
Je reviendrai.

Lulu a raison, les plus beaux ivoires sont à Dieppe. Il ne reste d’ailleurs plus que 4 ivoiriers en France dont 2 à Dieppe !
